Hey there! I am so excited to meet you! My name is Cassie. I am a Branding and Portrait Photographer based in Raleigh, NC. ( But I am always excited for a good road trip...
hint. hint.)
My mission is to make every single person who steps in front of my camera feel their best. Feel like their most authentic self. Feel like they are the most amazing person on the planet (because they are). To show that authenticity in their images.
I am going to do this introduction a bit differently than normal. I really want to talk about the nitty gritty of finding and following a passion because it is not always easy. The road to the end is rough, and not as you expect it to be.
It all started in 2007. My "other" high school (yep totally attended 2 high schools at the same time) had the offering of a photo class. I decided to give it a shot, and see how it went. Took both of the classes there and fell in love with being behind the camera. 2 years later I stood there with a Commercial Photography degree in my hand and accepted a position with a photo studio in High Point. It was here that I would discover my love for product photography and refine all of my skills. I was there for about 3.5 years until I was tired, sad, and missed that people interaction on the daily. I missed having that interaction with people and building those connections. After working here for several years, I put in my resignation letter.
You know, in life making a major change can go one of 2 ways: really good or terribly bad. This one was probably one of the best ones I could have made, I just didn’t know it yet. For the next 3 years I would go back to school for graphic design, work in a handful of restaurants, and not touch my camera except for once or twice per year to take our family picture.
Fast forward to 2017. After attending many workshops and talks, I began to find my confidence again, not only myself but in my work. I had attended a talk where I learned that you are perceived by how you introduce yourself, AND to state what your passionate about doing first rather than your actual job title.
Y’all. Epiphany moment here. Like smack ya in the face and take a shot of whiskey moment.
No one knew I was a photographer. Why? Because I always introduced myself and told people I was a server or graphic designer… I made a change from that moment forward. I was a photographer to every single person I met. I made sure literally everyone knew it.
Over the next few years I grew this passion into my side hustle, or as I like to call it “my side passion.” I plan on making it my full time passion one day soon. I want to live my life doing what I love every moment of the day.
So after 10 years of trying to figure out where I wanted to be. Here I am.
I am a photographer. I am confident. I am authentic.
